Staying Safe

  • As people shelter in place, unfortunately for many that means potentially being stuck in an abusive situation. Domestic violence shelters in our community include Stepping Stone in Michigan City, St. Jude’s in Crown Point, and Caring Place in Valparaiso. Additionally, fleeing domestic violence situations is one of the top causes of homelessness; the Sojourner Truth House in Gary provides emergency shelter for homeless and at-risk women and children.
